Congratulations to Jess Martell!

Please join me in congratulating Jess on the release of her co-edited collection Modernism and Food Studies: Politics, Aesthetics, and the Avant-garde. This volume explores how modernist writers, painters, filmmakers, and chefs responded to the dramatically changing global food systems of the twentieth century. One of the reviewers writes:

“This delicious collection traverses the globe—potatoes in Ireland, eggs in New Zealand, mangoes in Bengal—and explores the sensuous qualities of artistic modernism in its many forms. This book makes a bold and clear case for the theoretical and historical importance of food studies to modernism.”
