Congratulations to Rosemary Horowitz! Rosemary's essay "Wiesel's Political Vision in Dawn, The testament, and Hostage" is forthcoming in The Novels of Elie Wiesel, a collection to be printed by SUNY Press.
About the essay: While Elie Wiesel’s novels have been studied from various literary perspectives, to date, they have been underappreciated as captivity narratives. The essay discusses the ways in which the through-line of captivity in the selected novels provide insights into Wiesel's politics, since taken together, the works are his literary response to three significant ideological movements of the twentieth century.
Rosemary would like to thank Colin Ramsey for sharing his knowledge about captivity narratives.
