“To make a great film you need three things – the script, the script and the script.” – Alfred Hitchcock.
The purpose of the course is to learn about film and television screenplay structure, analyze dramatic strategies in film and television, learn and apply correct script form, and creatively engage in the various stages of original scriptwriting. We will explore the basic theory and formal aspects of story structure, character development, use of conflict, scene writing, and dialogue. The assignments will include the writing of scenes, composing a story pitch, and the completion of the first ten-pages of a screenplay.
