English 5150: Teaching Literature
Prof. Leonardo Flores
Spring 2022
Wednesdays 6:00-9:00 pm (hybrid)*
Description:
This course is concerned with the why and how of teaching literature. It offers an examination of the theory and practice of teaching literature courses as informed by recent pedagogical scholarship. A hands-on course, it seeks to prepare students to teach at the college level, who will design literature courses and practice teaching throughout the semester.
See the flyer (below) which juxtaposes two different pedagogical approaches, both valid, as depicted in the recent Netflix series "The Chair."

*Though primarily face to face, this course's hybrid modality will be designed and discussed in conversation with the students enrolled in the class.
