In this course taught by Professor Zackary Vernon students will explore Southern literature from the mid twentieth century to the present focusing on ideas of race, class, gender and sexual orientation in the contemporary conception of what "the South" means and how this area is drawn and portrayed in both liberal and conservative platforms. Class will meet on Tuesdays and Tursdays from 9:30 to 10:45 am. Please see the flier for a list of books which will be examined in the course.
