William Brewer will be instructing this course which examines not only the beginnings of Gothic in British Romantic Literature but how writers would depart from the mold and use the formula to confront taboos, sexual violence, hysteria and paranoia to create a more psychological interpertations. Over the course of the class six novels will be read and discussed along with poetic examples of the genre and examining their relation to each other as well as their historical context. The class will meet Tuesdays from 5-8 pm.
