In this class, we'll be reading a wide range of short fiction from American and world literature, and discussing our reading in terms of aesthetics, technique, and theory. We'll primarily use The Norton Anthology of Short Fiction: Shorter 8th Edition. Graded assignments will include reading quizzes, a midterm and final exam, and two papers.
Note that the class is face-to-face; I record all class sessions these days, so anyone forced to miss class can keep up, but Zoom attendance doesn't count as class attendance in terms of the attendance policies.
