About Jim Brooks
Jim Brooks has taught at West Wilkes High School for the past 32 years. He is a National Board Certified Teacher in Adolescent/Young Adult, English/Language Arts. In 2007 he received the National Education Association’s Excellence in Teaching Award and was honored by the National Council of Teachers of English with the 2008 National Media Literacy Award. In 2010 he was named Outstanding North Carolina English Teacher by the North Carolina English Teachers Association. Jim was inducted into the National Teacher Hall of Fame in 2012. He received his bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate degrees from Appalachian State University.
