Dr. Savannah Paige Murray will be teaching RC 5300: Studies in Rhetoric and Composition this semester with a focus on environmental rehtoric in the Fall 2021 semester. This class will meet on Tuesdays from 5-8 pm in room 506 of the newly rennovated Sanford Hall.
From Dr. Murray,
In this course we will explore the methods, theories, and controversies surrounding current research on language and the environment. We will explore contemporary issues in the environmental humanities with a rhetorical lens. Topics in the course range from grassroots environmental activism, public participation, technical writing in environmental decision-making, to the rhetoric of "sustainability," and more. Our geographical focus will include the Appalachian region, the American West, as well as key international contexts. In this project-based course, students will have the opportunity to explore the intersections of place, culture, and writing as related to their own communities, research, and careers. All majors and diciplines welcome!
