On Sunday, April 30 at 7:00 pm in App State's I.G. Greer Auditorium, a group of App State faculty-- Bruce Dick (English), Rob Falvo (Music), Tom Whyte (Anthropology), and Kemp Jones (Athens, GA musician)-- will perform Remembering and Forgetting: An American Libretto.
Since 2006 almost 3,000 people have lost their lives in 537 mass shootings. Thousands more have been injured, often maimed for life. An unmeasurable statistic of these shootings is the lingering grief associated with the families who lost loved ones. After these shootings, communities and institutions rocked to their core are never the same. Remembering and Forgetting: An American Libretto is dedicated to the thousands of innocent victims of mass shootings. It reminds us of how often we forget these senseless shootings, and remember them only after another slaughter reminds us of how many we forgot.
