This upcoming spring semester, explore the fantastical world of superheroes and the various themes that encompass it. Some of the contradictory themes that will be examined throughout the course include, the struggle for control over the industry between Marvel and DC, facism vs. democracy, and the way sexism is tackled in superhero films vs. racism. Other themes that will be addressed consist of, power struggles between heroes and villains and fandom around fantasy.
