There are lots of ways to get involved with English studies outside of the classroom!
The English Club--English Club is simply a club for students who are interested in all things English. If you enjoy good books, writing, and being creative, then English Club is the perfect place for you. You don't have to be an English major to join. If you are someone who just loves reading good books, then come to English Club and hang out with people who share your love of books.
Sigma Tau Delta--Sigma Tau Delta International English Honors Society is an academic organization for all English majors and minors at four-year colleges and universities. We are dedicated to fostering literacy and all aspects of the discipline of English. Sigma Tau Delta in the largest honors organization in our field and one of the largest members of the Association of College Honor Societies (ACHS) with over 850 chapters in the United States and abroad.
The Film Club--The purpose of the Appalachian Film Club organization is to provide students with opportunities for filmmaking, both in terms of developing technical skill and educating about the production process as a whole, regardless of members' prior experience. We have a lot of fun.
The Peel--The Peel is committed to nurturing and celebrating our university's vibrant, active, and creative community. The Peel Literature & Arts Review, Appalachian's only student-run literary arts magazine, publishes student's visual and written work in an online and printed publication throughout the school year. Lyric--Lyric is a spoken word poetry club that focuses on writing workshops, story-telling and bonding among poets. We speak out; we are controversial; we are brave. Lyric is open to everyone whether you like to read, write, or just listen to poetry.
